I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Forward in Mar 2024
Interview
The interview process is a 30 min call where they just kinda go over your resume and ask why you are interested in Forward/healthcare. They really harp on the mission a lot.
The second interview is a 1 hr technical interview, the first 20 minutes is going over the resume again and talking more about the mission. They asked me what impact was and what it meant to me but they kept digging and it felt like they wanted me to say something specific. The next 40 minutes was a pretty standard coding question, where you are given a 2D array and have to calculate the steps between each keystroke, then they added a wrinkle where you could wrap around the cursor. This interview was as far as I made it.
The next two interviews are on site, a 3 hr technical interview and a 1 hour interview with some higher engineers, like I said I didn't make it to either of these.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why Forward? What does impact mean to you? 2D array keyboard, steps to type a word.
Great! Focused system design + average leetcode questions. Behavioral interview was very nice and straightforward. Systems design interview include building a scribe tool for doctors to use. Was more a paired session with the interviewer.
It was pretty normal as far as interviews in tech go for entry level engineers. It felt like they were spending more time selling me on their product than on questioning me. Some standard Leetcode style question.

Question 1
Something about the minimum travel distance on a keyboard grid.
Medium difficulty. Interviewed before the company abruptly shut down. Like the team, did not get many specifics about the business, particularly regarding the care pods. It was a few phone screens and then onsite.
