It was intensive and enlightening. The questions were relatable and comprehensive to answer. The questions entails hard skills and soft skills areas. Also, having a design system and ability to work through a design process using figma and include the features under the design process. The user research aspect was emphasised on as well.
Interview process was through the phone. Interviewer asked about why I applied for the role and motivations.
Asked about salary range but they said "there was no salary range" and asked what I was getting paid.
They then said they'd arrange for a virtual interview but that never happened. The lack of professionalism here shows it all.
I had another friend go through the interview process at Freelancer and they lacked professionalism in emails and didn't value the time he put into a case study.
Two red flags here to take note of.
Interviews are hard – and not only for the candidates! The managers who are taking the interviews often face anxiety too. And sadly, they way lesser avenues to solve and express it than the candidates. A successful interview leaves both sides satisfied.
