Interview comprised of three main stages.
First interview was with a member of staff from HR. Questions were mostly finding out the basics about me, screening me as a candidate. They also told me a lot about the state of the company, living in Oslo etc. Very friendly atmosphere in this interview, found out a lot of what I needed to know.
Second stage was with Creative Director and Producer at the studio. This focused more on discipline specific questions, approaches to projects, management, leadership etc. Some questions were a little old fashioned in trying to catch me out or catch me by surprise, but overall is was a very friendly and thorough interview, with a good focus on what the role would entail.
After this interview we discussed potential salary range should I receive an offer. Funcom came in much lower than I’d originally been led to believe, had to negotiate it back up.
Third stage was with the Chief Product Officer at the US office. I wasn’t told in advance of the call who I would be talking to. The interviewer turned up almost 15 minutes late, told me they only had about 20 minutes for the call. Questions felt rushed, as were my answers. Most questions were about press and promotions stuff, as well as a few product related questions. Very few questions related to the day-to-day specifics of the role. The interview felt very rushed and quite unprofessional compared to what I’ve experienced in the past, disappointing end to what had been a good process.
