This was a very long and odd interview process. The process lasted about a month with one phone interview and three 1:1 interviews. First, the way the recruiters reached out to set up the phone screen is super sketchy, it felt like a scam so I didn’t want to move forward with the process initially. There were three total recruiters on my case and they all handled different parts of the process which was confusing as well. My first two 1:1s were normal and went well, but my final interview with the newly hired manager (as in hired the week of my interview) was a bit uncomfortable because I didn’t feel very respected just for the fact that he didn’t have his camera on for the whole interview. I found that off-putting and unprofessional as a hiring manager interviewing someone virtually for the first time. He didn’t give a reason why he didn’t have his camera on either. I instantly got bad vibes from him and the interview. That experience made me less excited to be a part of the team as I already didn’t feel valued or respected with the lack of interview etiquette. I was only left with questions for why he didn’t feel the need to turn on his camera. I was the only one with a camera on. The next week, I was told that I didn’t get the job, so I asked the recruiter for feedback from the hiring manager since the hiring manager initially said that he had no concerns about me being in this role. I already expected not to get the position because of the weird energy in that interview, but I just wanted to see what his answer would be to see if any of my theories were correct. Well, the feedback literally didn’t tell me anything, just a longer version of saying that I wasn’t chosen & left out the reason. Very strange interview process. Made me completely uninterested in employment with this company in the future. Just from that process I could tell there must be so much red tape and confusion within the actual company.
