I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gayot Publications (Los Angeles, CA) in Dec 2016
Interview
First a phone interview with the hiring manager. This led to an in-person at their office. There, I spoke with the hiring manager and the owner. Hiring manager was great. Owner was, as many others on here have noted, a walking nightmare. I was actually offered a position a few days later. I declined. If I knew I could avoid the owner, I'd have accepted. But the place is tiny, so the prospect of avoiding her is slim. And I simply couldn't imagine dealing with her on a regular basis.

Interview
I took an editing exam before I actually went into my interview. My interview was with the owner and his partner. They were very nice. They told me about their business, the history, etc., and they asked about my background. Then they told me all of the many job responsibilities involved in the position and the time it would demand of me each week.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Gayot Publications (Los Angeles, CA)
Interview
Normal phone calls and prescreens normal in person interview with senior editors but grubby odd offices and private owner of company has cameras and boxes of shredded files. Shady setup like a boiler room
