      Front End Developer Interview

      3 Jan 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Karlsruhe, Baden-Wurttemberg
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GoTo (Karlsruhe, Baden-Wurttemberg)

      Interview

The interview process was very transparent and overall a great experience. I first had a meeting with a recruiter which was great. I then had an hour-long meeting with the Senior Development Manager where he asked me some live coding questions that were basic data structures and algorithms (things that would be practical on the job ). Next, I had a take-home coding challenge where they asked me to code up a to-do app. After submitting, I had a meeting with a peer Senior Development Manager and a developer that lasted about 30 minutes or so. Everyone was SUPER nice and friendly and I had a great experience.

      Front End Developer Interview

      19 Oct 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Montreal, QC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at GoTo (Montreal, QC) in Oct 2021

      Interview

This was literally the worst interview process I have ever experienced - I would recommend not wasting your time. TL;DR I didn't speak to anyone at LogMeIn until the last step in the interview process - why did no one call me? I had to complete a full-stack challenge for a front end position, and then only discussed one function in the interview. LogMeIn has no respect for your time. I had to follow up multiple times with the HR manager in order to get interview confirmation. The Long Version: For starters, I applied for the position in August. A month later, the friend who referred me told me they had sent an email asking for people to refer people to the role as they hadn't had any applications. She responded that she had referred me and I hadn't heard anything - they gave her a thumbs up to her message. A few days later I get an email out of the blue with a coding challenge. The email starts 'As discussed on the phone...' although I hadn't received a phone call - pretty strange. When I looked at the challenge for the JUNIOR level, FRONT END position, I literally could not believe it. This should have been all the warning I needed - they wanted me to build a simplified version of their entire app - front end AND back end, with authentication, password hashing, and data encryption. They estimated it would take about 6 hours. I thought they couldn't be serious but I like a challenge so I went for it. My code was pretty shoddy but it worked and given how weird the recruiting had been so far, I was totally fine with not getting any further in the process so I submitted it. A week later, I got an email saying they wanted to interview me. Considering the code I submitted I was surprised. I was referred to an HR manager located in Boston who would schedule my interviews. A week passed and I hadn't heard from her, so I sent her an email. She scheduled one interview for me and I offered her some more availability for other interviews. I didn't hear anything back. It had now been 2 months since I applied. The day before one of my available times, I emailed her again to ask if I should be preparing for an interview, as I hadn't heard anything. She emailed at 4pm, saying my interview was scheduled for 8am the next day, which left me enough time to either prepare or sleep. I decided to spend my evening preparing so you can imagine my annoyance at 8am the next day when I click into the meeting, to get an email at 8 on the dot saying it's been cancelled. After that, I followed up again to get confirmation of another interview. This time she sent me the confirmation at 8pm on a Sunday night for a 9am interview the next day. At this point, the last step in the interview process, I still hadn't actually spoken with anyone at LogMeIn. The interviews I did have were totally fine. The people I spoke with were kind and friendly but given my bad experience with the HR/recruiting process, they didn't really do enough to make me want to work for a company that seems like such a mess. Also, after doing the entire, giant, tech challenge, we spent the interview discussing literally one function. Why did I need to build all that? I considered withdrawing myself from the process multiple times but given the amount of time i had invested in it, thought I should see it through. Would not recommend.
