I applied online. I interviewed at Government Finance Officers Association (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2023
Interview
Did a screening phone interview first, which was about 15-20 minutes. About two weeks later, they invited me to a Teams interview. The Microsoft Teams interview was held with two people and they were very nice and asked pretty standard and straightforward questions. This interview took about an hour.
After this interview, I never heard from them again. Completely ghosted. No rejection email, nothing. I waited two weeks post-interview and reached out to ask what my status was/if I could have an update. Nothing.
It feels very unprofessional to take an hour of my time and not even receive a computer generated rejection. It’s likely an indication of how things are run internally though, so maybe it is a blessing in disguise.
Just putting this review on here because it would have saved me time from meeting with roles that weren’t serious during my job search.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you used data to solve a problem.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Government Finance Officers Association (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2011
Interview
Found the posting on my university's job posting website. Wrote a cover letter and sent that in with my resume. Eventually was contacted by a very friendly manager at the firm, spoke with him and then scheduled an interview as soon as I could. Interview went well, or so I thought, but there were many other candidates. The selection process took a long time, and eventually I accepted another internship offer somewhere else. I was finally informed, in a respectful manner, that I had been passed up in favor of someone else but that my resume would remain on file.
