      Customer Support Specialist Interview

      2 Apr 2016
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Greenhouse Software (New York, NY) in Mar 2016

      Interview

Interviewing with Greenhouse was by far the best interview experience I have had in my career thus far. After submitting my resume and cover letter online, I was contacted by a recruiting coordinator within two days. She was friendly, warm and knowledgable, and set a great tone for the rest of the process. The first step in the process was a phone screen with a current Customer Support Specialist- we had a brief chat about my background, my relevant experience, and my goals. I felt like the company was genuinely interested in learning about me beyond my qualifications as listed on my resume. The next day, I had a brief touch base call with the recruiting coordinator- I had a chance to reiterate my excitement for the position and ask any outstanding questions I may have had. She filled me on the next step in the process- a take home activity to complete over the weekend. The activity itself was fun to complete. It gave me a chance to show off my ability to perform essential functions of the position I was applying for in a practical and fun way. I admittedly chose what I felt might've be an out-there topic for my project, so I was pleased when I got very positive feedback on my work. It reaffirmed my interest in the company, and drove home the point that Greenhouse isn't quite like any other company. The next step in the process was a more in-depth call with another current member of the Customer Support team. This call took about an hour, and the questions really delved into my experience and how it would translate into the position. After each question, I was offered validating feedback that showed engagement and active listening. The call made me feel great, and I ended it feeling like I'd really been able to convey the value I would add on the team. The next day, I received an email arranging the final step- an on-site interview at the Greenhouse office in NYC. This interview was quite long, but don't let that intimidate you. I was given the opportunity to meet five different members of the Greenhouse team in various roles within the company. These interviews assessed my cultural fit, gave me an opportunity to ask questions of potential teammates, elucidated what my potential growth opportunities within the company could be, and familiarized me with what the day-to-day functions of the position are. Overall, the experience was incredibly positive. I left feeling like I would really fit into the team and excited about the work I could do with the company. The next day, I received an offer and quickly accepted. I am so impressed with Greenhouse, and believe you will be, too- they really practice what they preach in terms of great recruiting process and candidate experience.

      Customer Support Specialist Interview

      19 Nov 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Greenhouse Software

      Interview

Arduous and time consuming. They are using us applicants as free test subjects to assist in training their employees on the software product they sell…A product which assists other companies with hiring. What better way for Greenhouse employees to gain firsthand experience of their product than to have an unending stream of applicants at their disposal to toy with and waste about a month of their lives. Half the people I met with were “nice”. The other half bordered on snobby to contrived to condescending.

What personality traits do you think are important for the CS Specialist role?

      Customer Support Specialist Interview

      10 Nov 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Greenhouse Software

      Interview

The process was very transparent and structured. Started with a 15 min phone screening with a recruiter who asked questions about what DE&I meant to me and explained in detail the role/salary/schedule. Next step was a 30 min phone interview with a team manager who asked questions to learn more about you work/learning style. After that I was sent an assignment that took about an hour to complete. Next was a 2 1/2 hour zoom interview where I first met with a member of the HR team, Then interviewed with a team lead, then a fellow Support Specialist. The last 15 mins of the interview I met with the recruiter to speak more about benefits and she asked me a few more HR related questions. I thoroughly enjoyed everyone I spoke with except for the Team Lead, who just seemed very indifferent during the interview. I was able to connect with everyone I spoke with except for the team lead, Which lead me to not be able to preform my best during that interview and not move on to the next round.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How you reach your goals, Tell me about a team member you admire, A time when you had to make a difficult decision, Why the support role is so important
