      Manager Interview

      7 Aug 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at Greenhouse Software (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

Received a prescreen call from the in house TA. Had a very casual comfortable discussion about the open role in more detail. Progressed to having a call with the head of the team for the role. Overall experience was very smooth and enjoyable.

      Manager Interview

      26 Aug 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Greenhouse Software

      Interview

Slow, poor, and an extremely unprofessional experience. Read below: 1) Phone screen with HR to discuss the role and the compensation. 2) A few days later, a phone interview with the hiring manager. 3) Take home assignment, which took 3-4 hours. 4) After I submitted the assignment, they disappeared for 3 weeks. 5) Got an email after 3 weeks saying we would like to move forward, and there will be a 2.5 hrs long interview session. I gladly submitted my availability. The email I got had only 1.5 hrs of interviews. I was super confused, but OK. 6) The interviews were short, met 4 people during 2-30min sessions. Now, here's the part you should read very carefully before applying here: 1) After a month long process of 4 interviews and a take home assignment, the recruiters calls me to tell me that the compensation he mentioned initially during the phone screen was WRONG and their budget is not even close to it. The fact that they waited 30 days to let me know this is just POOR. 2) The hiring manager, after the first phone screen, decided to go on a sabbatical in the middle of the process. I was told about this 30 days into the process when they told me about the compensation mishap. 3) Not a single person discussed the take-home assignment. Hope it was not used for their own benefit to perform analysis. 4) They mentioned that the hiring manager will be back after 2 more weeks, which would make this a 6 week long process. 5) 3 days later, I got an email saying they decided to move forward with another candidate because they showed better "cross- functional communication strategies." Pretty ironic how a company that couldn't even communicate the compensation properly within their teams is telling me I couldn't impress them with my cross-functional communication strategies. I have interviewed at many companies, but this was by far THE WORST EXPERIENCE.

Thank you for taking the time to meet with our team and provide this detailed feedback. I am sorry to hear that you had a negative experience during the process. Our goal is always to provide clarity and a positive candidate experience, but it sounds like we missed the mark this time. Your feedback is extremely valuable, and we will make sure to share it with the broader hiring team. I want to assure you that your take-home assignment was not and will not be used for any real-life analysis. The aim of the assignment is to gain a full view of a candidate’s skills. If you have additional feedback to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, Amy Kirsch, Team Manager, Talent Acquisition, directly at amy.kirsch@greenhouse.io

      Manager Interview

      29 Jan 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY

      Positive experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Greenhouse Software (New York, NY) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Right after an employee referred me, a recruiter contacted me to set up a phone interview. After that, I did a phone interview with the manager hiring for the position. There was supposed to be a third phone interview with one of the founders, but that had to be cancelled as he was sick. The final round of interviews was onsite - I met with two members on the team I was interviewing for, two other members of that team for a culture interview, the manager hiring for the position, the founder, and then the recruiter. Everyone I was in contact with was extremely friendly and welcoming. The recruiters answered emails immediately, even proactively reaching out to let me know that one interview was scheduled for an hour, but would only take 30 minutes, and that I shouldn't be worried that it was cut short. I was asked many experience-based and situation questions, and there was one case study. There were no 'trick' questions, and the entire interview process was very welcoming. I was so impressed with the company and process.
