      Software Engineer Interview

      Application

      I applied online. I interviewed at Greenlight.guru

      Interview

Greenlight Guru contracts with a company call "Woven" to test candidates on the ReactJS library. Woven, based on my experience with them, and my dealings with their founder on previous occasions - unrelated to Greenlight Guru, is a bigoted company. The first time I took the Woven React test 3 years ago from the date of this writing, I was unable to submit the test due to a technical glitch on THEIR side, I informed them of this and they essentially said that there was nothing wrong with their tests. Fast forward to the summer of 2019, I took their test again for another client company, and lo and behold, in their test instructions, Woven mentioned that they have a technical glitch on THEIR side, where a candidate cannot submit the test, and they had a work around for it. Fast-forward again to this past weekend when I applied for a job at Greenlight Guru, expecting to get another Woven test, NOPE, I get an emailed from a Woven employee stating that I can't work at, or take the test for Greenlight Guru because they "only want full-time" employee. I'm like WTF? The application form on Indeed, where I applied, did NOT have an option for Part-time nor Full-time, it defaulted to Full-time, which was what I wanted! So I emailed the Woven employee back to get an explanation, she told me that because I had answered: "Maybe" on the application form to the question: "Are you able to work in the Indianapolis office?". I answered "maybe" because I have never been to their office, I don't know what it's like there. I have mentored several ex-Greenlight Guru employees (with considerably less skills than me), in the past, and they've told me that they had the option of working from home on some days, which is a common practice in my area. At this point, it's clearly obvious that I'm being blackballed by Woven. Greenlight Guru needs to work with another testing vendor, or clearly state on their job advertisement that certain demographics in American Society cannot work for them.
