I sent in my resume, then had to submit a paper based on a topic they provided, then there was a phone interview where I spoke with a woman with zero social skills. At the end of the call I said, "Thank you and I look forward to hearing updates as you continue the candidate search." And she really condescendingly said, "Like, what kind of update are you expecting?" Obviously whether we'll be moving forward or you're pursing other candidates. This is what I always say at the end of the interview and she's the only person who has ever acted like that's not a perfectly normal thing to say. I've never been spoken to so rudely in an interview ever. I didn't even bother to send a thank you note.
