I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hayward Lumber (Monterey, CA)
Interview
Went through the interview process for a position that included a personality assessment upfront. The role has been posted for several months with the same salary range ($80k–$110k), which may indicate challenges in filling the position. Oddly enough I keep getting updates that the position is still open. The hiring manager mentioned people kept quitting on him and he doesn't know why. The on site requirement of 10.5 hours a day and below market pay could be the reason behind that.
Would recommend asking detailed questions about expectations, compensation, and hiring timeline before investing significant time into this company.
1 phone screen followed by an in person interview. The phone screen involved a personality test.
In person interview was with members of management. Overall it was a very straightforward process.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Hayward Lumber (San Luis Obispo, CA) in Jan 2020
Interview
My first contact was with a Hayward recruiter. I had 2 separate telephone interviews. They decided to have me do an in person interview 70 miles from my home. Three weeks after not hearing anything I contacted the recruiter. The recruiter told me that they were blown away by my qualifications and would be in contact shortly. Interview number 4 was set up a week later. Two weeks after my 4th interview I had not heard back. I contacted the recruiter again and was told that they would be in contact with me. Two weeks later they asked if I could interview with the COO. My 5th interview with the COO went well. Two weeks after the interview I reached out to the recruiter to tell them that I was not interested in working for an organization that was this disorganized.
1 year later, the recruiter contacted me and asked if I was still considering the position.
I can't imagine what working for them must be like if there is such a disconnect within their own organization.
