I was contacted by an over zealous recruiter who led me to believe the job was mine. HOB wanted to fly me out immediately for an interview and bypass the phone screen. They gave me only 1 days notice and finding a flight was near impossible
I decided it was best to speak over the phone first to make sure it was a good fit.
The first interview was with a former employee who is friends with the CEO. It made me very uncomfortable but I had no choice. That was done in the evening and lasted an hour. The next day I spoke with 4 members of the executive team on back to back calls and at one point the CEO told me that it was a 'great first interview' and when would I be able to fly out to meet the team. During my interview with the CIO, he said that's a good sign and that the CEO would only say such things if they were seriously interested in me.
I was literally talking to my husband about when we could fly out there for my next round of interviews. I was led to believe this was a done deal.
When I spoke to the recruiter the next morning, he told me he received an email stating I was not a good fit for them. I told him I was SHOCKED because they told me during the interview that things were going great and that they wanted me to come out to meet everyone.
I'm very good at what I do and didn't need or want their feedback since I lost all interested in pursuing this opportunity. If they were that misleading during the interview, what would it be like working in that environment?
