Interview
Good Experience Until it Wasn't...
I received an email from the HR manager wanting to schedule a phone interview but she didn't get back to me until late the next day. Not a good first impression of the company but brushed that off and had the initial phone interview with the HR manager that seemed to go well. The next step was to complete their Practical Skills Assessment test which is a Headline Writing Assignment. After completing that, I received a call from the HR manager saying they were impressed with my work and wanted to bring me in for an in-person interview. When I arrived the day of my interview I was greeted by the HR manager who gave me a tour of the office. Then, I was asked to sit in a conference room and wait to speak with the marketing managers. I had a great conversation with the marketing team who also expressed how impressed they were with my Headline Writing Assignment. After speaking with them for quite a while, I was told to wait for the HR manager again...but instead...The CEO and CFO came in to interview me. They were uninviting and asked taunting questions but for the most part I thought the interview went well. The total duration of my interview took about 2 hours of my time when they said to prepare for 1 hour. However, being that I had the opportunity to speak with most of the team gave me hopes that it went well. I sent a follow-up email afterwards relaying my interest in the job but heard nothing back. A week went by and I heard nothing back...two weeks went by and I heard nothing back. So, I sent another email expressing my continued interest. A day later I finally received a rejection email. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I spent 2 hours at this interview where I was praised on work that I would prospectively be doing for the company and they have the audacity to not even get back to me?! Then, finally after two follow-up emails they send me a vague rejection email?! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I would not want to work for a company that doesn't consider the applicant's time and effort in the interview process.
Takeaways:
-The HR department needs to do a better job at responding to applicant emails
-The CEO and CFO need to be more personable and inviting to applicants
-Picked up a bad company culture vibe
-Unprofessionalism
-The two women I interviewed with from Marketing were the best part!

Completely technically inept CTO asked me to build a plugin. I built the plugin. He then says he didnt ask me to build a plugin. Not sure what the issue here is, but this is not a happy place.
