      Associate Brand Manager Interview

      24 Sept 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Atlanta, GA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at IN ZONE (Atlanta, GA) in Mar 2012

      Interview

Initial interview consisted of five separate face-to-face meets over 4.5 hours. Interviewers ranged from semi to non-experienced and only two had been employed >4 years. Company prefers some experience, but mainly wants to gauge candidate's interest level, familiarity with general CPG information (i.e. sales volume data), passion for marketing/branding and fit. Brand Marketing Director's professional background is a grocery-focused CPG which limits breadth/depth of knowledge across multi-channels. Existing ABMs (2) have <1 CPG experience. Other interviewers' roles consist of graphic design artists who are gauging for fit and upper management (if you move forward) who include president/GM and owner.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Impromptu branding scenario of the actual product (kids' juice brand). Stick to using 4 P's of marketing & 5 C's of situation analysis and include a bubbly oral presentation about 3-5 minutes in length. The purpose of the exercise is to see how well someone thinks on his/her feet. Brand Director gives you the mini-case and allow you about 5-10 minutes to prepare your statement before presenting orally to her. Nothing formal or standardized about the case, and having a modicum of branding and/or CPG marketing understanding makes this question a breeze.
