- Initial call with HR: The first call is with HR, where they will ask general questions about your experience and your knowledge of the company. You will be asked about your last salary, not your expected salary. I recommend responding with your expected salary instead. I wasn’t prepared for that question and answered honestly, which turned out to be much higher than what they typically pay. This may have contributed to the poor treatment I received during the technical interview.
- On-site Interviews in Acireale: There are two more interviews at their office in Acireale. In my case, I had to spend five hours for the interview process—three hours of travel and two hours for the interview itself. The first hour consisted of an interview with the tech lead and HR. They asked about my knowledge of the company again, why I wanted to work there, what I expected from them, and why they should hire me, among other standard questions. The second hour was the technical interview.
Technical Interview:
The technical interview involved solving a simple problem with O(n) complexity. I had to write code on paper while explaining my thought process. You'll need to have a deep understanding of the data structures in the programming language you choose, as you will be asked why you chose a particular data structure for the problem's input or the variables you declared during the solution. The problem itself involved counting elements in an array that met a certain condition and returning that count.
I performed well on this part, but the feedback I received was: "You solved the problem, and your thought process was correct. However, you were unable to answer one question properly, which indicates that you're a junior developer. Additionally, you asked for too much money. If we decide to make an offer after interviewing the remaining candidates this week, it will be for much less than what you requested."
