I applied for a role online, where one of the application questions asked for my salary expectations—I put 80K. They responded by asking me to complete a 3-hour coding test. After passing, I was then asked to do another 4-hour coding test (which felt excessive for a company of their size, but I went along with it). After successfully completing both tests, I finally got an interview. The hiring manager was brash and unwelcoming—instead of a normal interview, they pulled out a surprise written exam full of technical questions and started quizzing me on the spot. Despite the unpleasant experience, I passed that too. After 8+ hours of assessments and interviews, they emailed me an offer—for 66K per year. They refused to negotiate, claiming this was their budget. What made this worse was that they had seen my salary expectation from the start and never addressed it until after I had gone through their entire process. I decided to accept the offer, but something felt off. Sure enough, shortly after, they emailed me saying the role had been withdrawn. Overall, the hiring process was unnecessarily long, unorganized, and misleading. If you’re considering applying, be prepared for excessive testing, poor communication, and unprofessional treatment.
