      Proofreader QA Interview

      31 May 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at J-Novel Club in Mar 2024

      Interview

It wasn't an interview. I submitted my resume online and they messaged me back (a month later) to ask me to take a test. I took the test (which took two days) and they agreed to bring me onboard to work on some trial novels. I did two novels, but didn't receive feedback for my first novel until I had completed my second one. The feedback would have helped me correct some of my mistakes in the second, but unfortunately it came when they told me they wouldn't be taking me on. Simply put, their communication is atrocious and the pay is a pittance ($0.65/page for an average of a 300 page book, which takes a week +/- to do).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me to take a test, which looked at general grammar abilities and proofreading skills.
