      Intern Accountant Interview

      6 May 2011
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at JPMorganChase (New York, NY) in Mar 2009

      Interview

After applying online, I received an invitation by email to set up a phone interview with one of the hiring managers at JPMorgan Chase. I called the number they had provided to me and proceeded to talk with a lady who had the softest voice, which was a surprise because I thought the person was going to be miserable. The phone call lasted for 15 mins with questions asking about my background etc. She apparently liked what I said and approved me for a one on one interview at 1 Chase Plaza in NYC. I was excited, fresh from college and during an economic downturn I managed to get an interview. My first interview consisted of waiting and more waiting until one scary old man approached me and introduced himself as the hiring manager for te accounting dept. I almost died!! We talked for about an hr then he told me to come back for a second interview. At that point, there was no turning back for me. I thanked him and went on my merry way home humming as if I had already gotten the job. 2 days went by and it was time for my decor interview, which at this time it was with the same scary hiring manager and 2 senior accountants, I guess to see what I had to offer. 2 hrs went by and I was exhausted explaining what I had learned from college but I did it. They offered me another interview date and I'm thinking I'm meeting the whole department. That wasn't the case... On the third interview they gave me some tests and situations that I had to solve. Back to school again? Pretty much. At the end of the third interview they had sent me down to the basement where I thought they hated me or something, I was wrong. They loved m apparently. I took a drug test and began my finger printing process and took a gorgeous photo of myself for my I.D. I actually made it :) unlike many that were there as well. I was officially offered the interning position by mail as well and I hung the invitation letter on my wall the day I got it :) now it's off because thinking "why did I take it" haha but I'm enjoying it now as a full time regular employee :)
