I had a preliminary screening interview over zoom with both the HR and engineering managers, which was followed by an in person interview at the office that included a tour of the facilities. There was a small test with the company product as well. I got the sense that the two managers liked my qualifications and was told I would be a good fit at the company. However, the founder of the company sat in on the latter half of the interview, and I believe that for whatever reason he was not so impressed with me. Despite this I was still a bit surprised when I got the rejection after being assured that I would be a good fit. Additionally, the repeated furloughs in the company were not mentioned and only framed as a covid shutdown.
