      Anonymous employee
      Tacoma, WA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at KeyBank (Tacoma, WA)

      Interview

You should expect the first interview to be a phone interview from a HR recruiter. If successful, you will be referred to the local sales manager for a second interview. You have previous experience, you be required to prove your prior performance with sales reports, stack rankings and or W-2s from prior years. The sales manager will recommend you for hiring but has to have approval from their boss.

      Mortgage Loan Officer Interview

      28 Oct 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at KeyBank (Denver, CO)

      Interview

I was called by them to apply for the job. I did and after some very long phone interviews I set up an interview. I arrived and was told to wait while the manager was in a meeting. I finally went in and interviewed while he ate lunch. I was told that the mortgage department farms out all of the mortgage department support to a company called PHH. I was also told that I have to work in the branches and source all my deals from them and service the existing customers. I was warned that the loans must be packaged perfectly in order to close. I accepted and went to work and that is when I learned about the total chaos of this job. Most of it is caused by having assigned branches but allowing the branches to send the deals to whomever they want. There are around a dozen positions in Colorado and each position turns over every 6 months except there are 2 senior employees who do the majority of all the business. Because of this, getting referrals from the branches is tough because they go to the golden child loan officer. The branches know that you aren't going to last very long and most of them will just come out and say that. This is a position that is commission based. So unless you can afford to live on almost nothing, this position will dent your finances even if you meet the production goals which I did most months. And if you even think of suggesting changes, you will get on the managers "list". Incoherent job and communication. Never before have I felt like I've been set up to fail like I did at this bank.
