      Sales Engineer Interview

      17 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Keyence (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2016

      Interview

The interview process before extended a final interview requires a few steps to cull the best candidates that are suited for this position. Firstly if the company is interested in you you will be asked to perform a Bennett Mechanical aptitude test. These are just simple multiple choice questions that assess your understanding of basic physics. Second if you did well on your mechanical test you will be asked to do a phone interview which is brief only about 15-20 minutes where standard interview questions are asked. If after the phone screening the HR rep feels you are a good fit you will be required to do a HireVue webcam interview. You're not interviewing with an actual person, but rather you are asked pre-recorded questions which you have to answer within three minutes. You will probably be asked something like 6-8 questions. Finally, you are asked to take a Caliper Assessment Test which is designed to gauge your personality type. Based on the test results they can discern whether your personality would be a fit for sales. As there seems to be common traits that all sales people that enjoy their jobs all share. After this, your HireVue and Caliper results are taken into consideration by different Hiring Managers and they will determine if they would like to extend an invitation to a final interview. If you get the final interview you'll have to do a product presentation that lasts 5 minutes, do a sell the pen scenario, and answer some interview questions. Good luck!

      Interview

My interview process consisted of two rounds. Was flown out to Chicago to role play one of their products. Thirty minutes of behavioral was pretty typical. The thirty minutes of technical role play was on the more difficult side - thought it went well but wasn't given an offer.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Keyence (Hanoi) in Apr 2026

      Interview

1st round. 5 minutes. Interviewed by one manager, face-to-face. Most questions are quite typical, such as your experience, your reasoning for the application, your general understanding of the role, and your strengths and weaknesses. There's one question, though, where you have to think on your feet, which can be tricky.
