      Graphic & Web Designer Interview

      21 Mar 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer

      Application

      I interviewed at King Media

      Interview

Referred by a friend and asked if I'd be interested in hearing more about the opportunity. I said "I'm always open to at least learn about opportunities", and at the time I was employed with a corporation but looking for opportunities in an agency setting, so perfect timing I thought. Interview process started with an initial phone interview then was asked to come in for a 1:3 interview which was great—I got to meet and interact a bit with my potentially new teammates, showing them my professional graphic design portfolio and answered their questions. They also allowed an opportunity for me to ask questions, which is always a good sign from an employee's perspective on the potential employer. The interview then concluded with a 1:1 with the owner and I was offered the position which I "officially" accepted about 2 weeks later, due to my transition of exiting my prior employer.

      Question 1

How quickly/easily do you think you'd transition from a corporate setting to our agency with multiple clients?

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at King Media (East Lansing, MI) in Aug 2009

      Interview

The interview process was what I expected it to be. Nothing out of the ordinary. The most important thing is to be prepared with a professional looking portfolio containing about 10-15 peices of your best work. When I interviewed I was fresh out of school with some professional freelance experience so most of my work was student work. That's okay as long as it is your best student work showcasing your talents and capabilities. I was asked many of the routine interview type questions and went through my work explaining in detail my creative process as well as the ovreall goal that was to be reached for each project. I hit it off almost instantly with the owner and she hired me on the spot. I could tell she was impressed with my skill set.

      Question 1

      Nothing really difficult or unexpected.
