I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Knoxweb (Knoxville, TN) in Mar 2018
Interview
Completely horrible. Company has no concept on treating human resources, much less being timely with them. I would receive briefly-worded e-mails that look like they came off a mobile phone, the entire time. Told me they were interested and asked me to write a 500-word sample for them. I never heard back from them after this, despite calling to follow up as well.
Most of the time in this "process" was trying to get Knoxweb to get an answer. Weeks would literally go by without answer. Overall the entire thread of communication should've taken a few days; I've dealt with larger and more prompt companies.
Pay was also apparently quite low. Even a telephone receptionist looked like they would've earned more than what they were wanting for a writer, which was tasteless if not poor. In fact, this company refuses to pay anyone anything over $20K, and the going rates for similar jobs are $40K or more. Not cool, and more reason why the young talent leave Tennessee in droves to other states with pay rates such as this.
If this is how they treat potential employees, I'm glad I didn't get the job with them. Making someone spend time write a sample, then vanishing off the face of the Earth during an application process is extremely sloppy and unprofessional.
