Entry Level Marketing - Management Training Program Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at LMG Global (Toronto, ON) in May 2014

      Interview

There is a three stage interviewing process after an initial phone call screening. The first stage was short and sweet, directly to the point. A chance to meet face to face with one of the hiring manager and learn more about the overview expansion plans of the company and what they are about and where they plan to be. The second stage is something they call an "observation day" where you spend a full day with one of the top leader. At first I thought this was such a strange process but then quickly realized it was a great experience to see an insight into exactly what the job responsibilities of what I would be doing if I were selected for the entry level management training program. I learned things on the second round interviews that I would not have expected. There were many situational questions you had to answer that made me really opened my mind as to what an entrepreneur has to really go through and understand in order to be successful. You see the how the culture of the company, everyone is very hard working and ambitious. Even though it's a sales company everyone is will to help each other grow instead of a cut-throat environment. In the second stage, if you make it through the day, they go over in detail exactly how the pay structure/compensation and the company structure of how to advance through the company such as requirements and time frame are laid out. I thought it was very clear and straight-forward system. Although the process was a bit long, it really gave me a chance to see what I would be doing if selected for the position, so no surprises if hired. It also makes sense, instead of hiring person and then realizing the job is not for them once all the paperwork is already filled out. So I loved that fact that they show you first had the day-to-day responsibilities. The final stage was to sit down with the hiring manager at the end of the day to see if I had the qualifications and characteristics of the person they were looking for and how I would be a beneficial candidate to the companies over all expansion

      Question 1

There were several tasks to answer in regards to business scenarios of how you would run your own company if starting up. A lot of the things I learned in University for marketing was useful like the marketing mixes and 4Ps. The importance of indirect and direct marketing in today's society.
