Multiple interviews as well as a very extensive unpaid design project (mood, color palette, 15-20 style CADs, with print + pattern assortment) and presentation.
No response to follow ups for over 3 weeks after the presentation. Extremely unprofessional and exploitative. I feel like I dodged a bullet.
Difficult interview
Application
I applied online. I interviewed at LT Apparel (Bentonville, AR) in Mar 2026
Interview
Several interviews: Ending in a lengthy (marketed by HR as Brief) Unpaid project requiring designing an entire Season including:
-Mood/color board
-15-20 designs (which we didn't Have to create CAD's for, but I wanted to do my very best so I did and it took over 50 hours)
-Multiple prints
-Full presentation
This is NOT a brief project. It's an exploitative project.
I did not feel the hiring managers were positive at all about my extensive presentation. It was a cold experience.
Sent thank-you's: Zero response for over 3 weeks post presentation.
Extremely unprofessional and I feel taken advantage of and that my intellectual property is in someone else's hands now for Free and zero accountability. I would not have accepted the offer anyway (it didn't exactly pay that competitively and they were cold so I didn't want it) but it was not a good experience.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at LT Apparel (Greensboro, NC) in Mar 2019
Interview
Phone interview, two in person interviews, a project and an office tour. Meeting with lots of team members was very nice too. The team allowed ample time for the project and gave positive feedback.
