I applied online. I interviewed at Lam Research in Apr 2017
Interview
First, an admin lady emailed me and told me that one hiring manger read my resume. He wanted to schedule a phone call with me discussing about potential opportunity. We set the date and I knew it was going to be technical.
The call with the hiring manager lasted about 30 min. He asked about the research in my PhD study since it is related to the work at Lam Research as a process engineer. A lot of technical details regarding tuning process parameters on specific plasma etching equipment. He also told me about his group, what they do and how well they are doing.
At the end he asked if I had any question for him.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is the biggest challenge in your PhD work and how did you approach it?
I had one presentation in the beginning, and then my schedule was followed by 2 panels and 2 one on one interviews and then 2 panels. Overall, it was quite smooth and the panel members were very welcoming.

Question 1
What would you do if your project has already passed the deadline?
A 90-minute panel interview that combines both technical and behavioral questions, designed to thoroughly assess not only your understanding of core concepts but also your ability to apply them in real-world scenarios. The technical portion focuses on evaluating your depth of knowledge in relevant processes, problem-solving skills, and familiarity with tools, methodologies, and industry practices. You may be asked to walk through specific projects, explain decision-making processes, or troubleshoot hypothetical situations to demonstrate your hands-on experience and critical thinking.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Lam Research (Bengaluru) in Mar 2026
Interview
I applied through a referral, which helped get my foot in the door. The interview process was entirely virtual and very well-organized. It consisted of five rounds roughly 30 minutes each, including technical screenings and behavioral interviews with different team members.
