      Chief Program Officer Interview

      19 Apr 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LaunchCode

      Interview

I had a screening interview with the VP of HR that went well. Then I had a multi-hour interview with the CEO and current Chief Program Officer, who is apparently staying at the company. I was over qualified and it appeared that the CEO and current CPO had limited understanding of the adult learning industry and the current climate for tech training. The interview consisted with them picking my brain for what appeared to be free consulting. It was mentioned that money was a concern for this company, so consistently reposting a position and asking candidates to give unpaid advice on their current data and case studies for their current business seems like a way to acquire the knowledge that they need at a fraction of the price. I noticed that the same position has been reposted for months so my conjecture could be correct. Ethics matter to me so I hope this is not the case, but if you find yourself in a multi-hour interview, just know that they are likely going to ask you to help them analyze their data and solve their current problems for free.

We appreciate your feedback, as ensuring a positive and respectful job candidate experience is extremely important to LaunchCode! We have been transparent with all of the job candidates for our Chief Program Officer role that our current CPO is staying with the company, but transitioning to another role as an individual contributor. She is, of course, involved in the interview process, as we highly value her 6+ years of experience with our company and her perspective is paramount to choosing a successor. The role you interviewed for is an extremely important one with a large team and a position on our Executive Leadership Team, so we do carefully screen each candidate's expertise and knowledge of the industry. The interview process for members of our Leadership Team does sometimes include a case study or asking our candidates to solve some of the real challenges we face. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience in more detail and gather additional insights to inform our interview process. Please feel free to reach out to our People Ops team and we'll be more than happy to connect.
