      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      17 Apr 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lean Tech IO in Apr 2024

      Interview

Weirdest interview process I ever been. After the typical screen call with a recruiter, they sent me a couple of personality and leadership quizzes totaling over 100 multiple choice questions. Then I had a HR call where besides the normal questions regarding work experience they started to ask more private stuff like my national ID number, age, who I live with, etc. They also asked for references, criminal record, ID copies, etc; before even having the first technical interview. I also didn't learnt anything about how the company works, salary, benefits. I didn't felt comfortable with all the personal quizzing so I dropped out of the process.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Lean Tech IO (São Paulo, São Paulo) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Worst and most unprofessional and disrespectful interview experience I've ever had. The tech recruiter asked a lot of unprofessional and even disrespectful personal questions, which I consider big red flags, and ruined any positive image I might have had of the company. They wanted to know, among other personal questions, who I live with, if I make therapy, the reasons I do, and even the TOPICS I talk to my therapist about and if I take any medication. Completely non-sense, private, uncomfortable, abusive and intrusive questions that have nothing to do with the professional experiences of any candidates. The recruiter was totally unprofessional and unprepared on how to handle an interview and treat the candidate with a minimum of empathy and respect. Then another big flag. The recruiter asked for my personal ID number (personal and sensitive data), without even knowing if I'd be selected for the position. I understand that a background check is necessary, but I've never seen a company asking for documents before even the candidate interviews and being selected. For me, it was another big red flag, which just adds up to this weird and awkward selection process. Later, I learned that it's a common practice in this company. According to the recruiter, that was a prerequisite for the client interview, and I had to send everything on the same day with urgency, to make the hiring process more agile. After this first interview with the recruiter, I was invited for a second and third technical interviews, which were very good and the interviewers asked interesting questions that really fit the position. That was the only good thing in the entire process. All of the meetings were fully recorded. And then, after all of that, the recruiter just disappeared. Whenever I asked for an update on the process after all of the steps and effort, they just say "we will schedule soon", and it never happened. Everything that was super urgent before, now it's just a random "soon", which is lasting 10+ days now. Completely disappointed with this entire disrespectful and unprofessional experience, and even concerned about what they can do with my personal data I had to send. The good thing is that I avoided creating any relations with this company, because who knows what could happen next. I really hope that every candidate sees this report before applying.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lean Tech IO in Jul 2025

      Interview

I've performed many interviews with Lean Tech for the last couple of years. They always ask you for documentation and professional recommendation, it feels like the previous ones are not relevant. The interview are usually not difficult, they are going to ask you many questions about the job stack. The follow up and the recruiters are not very clear, and you need to go through at least 2 or 3 technical evaluations.
