We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with our interviewing process. We strive to always treat candidates with the utmost respect and professionalism. We regret the mistake and have adjusted our process to ensure this type of thing does not happen again.
The other aspects that you describe about our interview process are spot on. We believe strongly that candidates must posses a solid grasp of computer science theory and fundamentals, coupled with an appetite and aptitude to keep learning. Our field is constantly changing and we believe candidates must demonstrate a firm grasp of the things that remain constant (data structures, algorithms, computational complexity, programming paradigms, etc.), with a potential to learn new pragmatic technologies, frameworks, and tools. Our interview process is geared towards identifying these characteristics (over say, knowledge of any specific language, current/trending library, or framework). Candidates can expect these type of interview questions and can expect to dive deeper into these areas as our interview process progresses.
While we didn't feel you were a match for our current opening, we do hope that you've found an opportunity that will help push your career forward. Thanks for your feedback.
