      Program Specialist Interview

      26 May 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Reno, NV
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at MADD (Reno, NV) in Mar 2022

      Interview

I volunteered with MADD for several years and was interested in "officially" being a part of the organization, so it was great to get an interview. I interviewed with two people, a regional director and a state director, over Zoom. Both were initially polite, but it seemed very surface-level. This was pretty much confirmed when they each very obviously mentally checked out after I explained my reasons for getting involved. Over two months and one personal attempt to reach out later, no follow-up has been received. Being involved with MADD has been life-changing in incredibly positive ways and the organization's work is more important than ever. That said, the views of it and its staff members are incredibly antiquated, as well as unnecessarily and negatively biased. This is interesting since they can't seem to pull themselves together to be professionals for the thirty seconds it would take to shoot "no thanks" to someone over email. I'm in no way saying I deserved a position just for having volunteered, but considering there are a lot of lower-paying, menial jobs people apply for that get an email declining even an interview, it leaves a pretty bad taste.
