I was DISCRIMINATED against before I sat down. I received a call from M. from the leasing office (River Oaks W. Novi in Michigan) and we talked about my experience for about 20 minutes and she seemed very excited about my potential. After talking with me on the phone (I had applied for the leasing agent ) M said that once she'd talked to me she felt I would be a great candiate for the Coporate Housing position and asked if I was interested. I said yes and we set up an interview for Dec. 26, 11:00am. I arrived and filled out the paperwork that she gave me. We walked back to the interview office and she told me what the job entails and shared with me that her sister work for Macy's too. She only asked me two questions which were how many years of customer service did I have and what was one of my favorite jobs I've had. After those two questions she asked me if I had any questions for her and said I'd ask them when she was done interviewing me. She said she had enough information and asked me again if I had any questions . I had seven or eight questions I asked her and then she walked me out. I was in the interview total of 10 maybe 15 minutes at the max. It was flat-out discrimination!! I am a heavier-set woman that's over 50. I did not look the way M. thought I should. I am attractive and well-groomed. It was so obvious she wasn't going to make any effort to find out more about my qualifications. The information she ascertained from the 2 question she asked, there was no way she had enough viable insite as to my being the correct person for the job or not. I'm a professional I have been in management for over 20 years. I have interviewed probably hundreds of people. I would never treat anyone that way that she treated me with such disdain. I was very impressed but when I left I was extremely disappointed in the way I was treated. I believe I was qualified for the corporate housing or leasing agent position but I was not given a chance due to my looks.
