I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr in Jan 2013
Interview
Unsolicited contact from a recruiter. I knew nothing about the company and didn't like what I read on here but took the interview anyway for practice with no real intentions to work for them.
The recruiter missed the first phone call she setup but apologized and setup a second one. She was friendly and polite but didn't ask any tough questions or dig really. More time was spent pitching McMaster Carr, I mentioned the negative things I read on here and it seemed like she heard that a lot.
My background is top 10 MBA/military/some consulting.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
No difficult or unexpected questions just the typical walk me through resume.
Mostly behavioral, 30 minutes. Begins by explaining the interviewers experience in the role and company. They describe the company culture and career progression. Opportunity to expand on your resume and contributions during your college or professional career. Not technical, care more about curiosity and passion. Final minutes are left open for questions about the interviewer or company.

I applied through university. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Elmhurst, IL) in Apr 2021
Interview
Final round is onsite with tour. Four rounds with different members of management. Also have a pre interview chat. Screener with recruiter first more words more more more words more
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Cleveland, OH)
Interview
phone interview after submitting my resume. A friend works there and warned me about the process. McMaster is set in THEIR ways. The phone interview was one of the most odd interviews I've ever experienced. I said something that she didn't want to hear. Maybe it was the tone of my voice. Who knows, I certainly don't.
