The process started with a professional and well-organized phone screen, but the first-round interview with the hiring manager completely changed my impression of the company. The conversation was one sided, with the interviewer spending most of the time talking about her own management style and achievements instead of asking meaningful questions about my background. At one point, she said, “You’re rather novice in this type of role, and this is a hard role. What makes you want to pursue this?”
That comment was unnecessarily dismissive and inaccurate, considering I have led full RFP and proposal cycles from kickoff through submission for complex, multi-department projects. The tone of the discussion was condescending and left me questioning how employees are treated internally.
