I applied online. I interviewed at Midpeninsula Regional Open Space
Interview
Fairly standard virtual behavioral panel interview.
Three panelist asked questions (two were on staff; one was from a partner agency); HR and hiring manager were also there but were off camera

Question 1
A mix of behavioral interview questions and also situational questions (ex. what would you do in this type of situation/how would you handle this type of problem that a planner III may have to handle?)
I interviewed at Midpeninsula Regional Open Space (Palo Alto, CA)
Interview
Timed 30-minute panel interview: each person takes turns asking questions. The interview is scheduled for a specific date, with no flexibility for different times. They inquire about how the internship aligns with your career path and present situational questions. At the end of the interview, they expect you to ask each individual interviewer on the panel a personalized question. A preference is given to individuals with a background in STEM education. In my opinion, this format is too demanding for an internship/temporary role.

Question 1
Situational question about informing the public on a specific scientific topic
It was a panel interview where each interviewer asked one question and then moved on to the next. There weren't very many follow-up questions to encourage elaboration or conversation. It was one question, and then the next, adding up to 6, and that was it. They timed it as well and said that there would only be time for questions from you at the end if you managed your time well in answering questions.
