I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Moloco (Seattle, WA) in Jun 2024
Interview
Recruiter reached out initially. After the recruiter call there was a manger screen which went well. The next step was a coding interview.
The hiring manager actually did the coding interview but they had a completely different personality. They were late to the interview and skipped introductions, just sent me a link to the problem description and told me to read it. They spent the whole interview with their head rested on their hands and what looked like their eyes closed. Anytime I had a question I had to repeat myself to get their attention. I finished the problem in 40 minutes and they said "I guess I can give you 5 minutes to ask questions" when the interview was scheduled for a full hour. They also had a shadow which turned their camera off after the interview started.
Before getting into the problem I was thinking aloud and said it looks like depth first search would solve this and there was no comment at all. After solving the problem they started to ask if that was really the solution and hypothesized that there existed examples where the solution wouldn't give the right output. After switching to breadth first they were happy with the solution.
While the interview it self was awful the recruiter was awesome. Very responsive and helpful throughout. They even tried to call me several times before emailing to say they weren't continuing which very few recruiters do these days and I really appreciated.
