I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Monkedia in Aug 2017
Interview
My interview with Monkedia was truly unlike any other. They cared not just about my experience and skills, but about the thoughts and feelings of all the employees already there! After applying online I was given a "project" with varying writing styles to complete and send back. Unlike other positions I have interviewed for in the past, Monkedia genuinely wanted to SEE my work put into play, as opposed to simply reading a resume. After that I came in for my first in person interview. Here the HR manager and a copywriter asked me about my work experience, as well as how I wanted to grow within my job. The fact that I was able to ask questions to someone who was working directly in the role I was applying for, and that they genuinely took an interest in ALL my experience, not just work, left me feeling happy but nervous. From there I proceeded to have one more in person interview with a copywriter, HR manager, and data lead! The questions they asked ranged from work experience to creativity process to personal career goals. I won't lie, it was intimidating being asked questions by several company members, but it gave me an actual feel for the company. Just as they asked me questions, I was able to ask them just as many as well. At the end I asked each member "What is your favorite part of working at Monkedia?" I fully expected the same cookie cutter answer from all three, but they each gave their own reply. The creative team member said "The amount I am able to grow not just in my skill set but in all the other creative aspects like graphics and video that I have wanted to learn for a long time, but never had the tools to." The HR representative said "The fact that at our last work outing I felt like I was in a Christmas movie at one point! I looked around and saw that from my hard work I had created a cooky family all coming together." The data specialist said "As dorky as it sounds, numbers." Monkedia's interview process was seriously a long and intimidating process! I think this is because they genuinely want to find people who aren't just relying on their previous work and skills, but who will help add to their culture and the community just as much.

Question 1
Where do you want to see your career in five years?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Monkedia (Dallas, TX) in Apr 2018
Interview
A week (maybe two) after initially applying I was asked to provide copy for a number of sample jobs. I was contacted a few days afterwards asking me to come in for an interview.
I was interviewed twice within two weeks, meeting with separate groups of people each time — a hiring manager, the Creative Director, the CEO, and others. Everybody was friendly and relaxed.
The questions were split 50/50 between copywriting-related topics and who I was as a person (inside and outside of the workplace).
I got the impression that they were gauging how my personality would fit into the company culture nearly as much as how the business could benefit from my skills.

Interview
A pre-employment assignment/project is given prior to an interview. After completing my project I received a rejection email stating that my work/style was not what they are currently looking for (which is fine). But it was a bit time consuming given that samples were already included in my application. I understand that the company was seeking a compatible fit, however it would have made more sense to schedule the assignment after an appropriate evaluation (and at least an interview) or by simply reviewing my resume. Please find a better way to sift through applicants.
