I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Motive (New York, NY) in Jun 2019
Interview
HR Intro Call, Online Technical Interview, Onsite Interview and Additional Online decision making interview.
The interview was really amazing. All the people are very friendly. Such a good workplace based on the people I met and the challenge they are trying to solve. I liked their product alot and was very disappointed to not get the offer. I was very much involved into their products and also done alot of product research on where I can add value as an engineer. I blame my performance for not making into the final offer although I really liked the products they build. I had to let my other offer go solely because I was interested in this company more.
Pros:
Nice People
Excellent Product
Excellent company
Cons:
Nothing untill the last extra online technical round.
I was interviewed online after the onsite interview by an engineer who doesn't speak my technical language aka Java and he looked very junior although recruiter mentioned him principal. He was very friendly but misguided me in most of the problem solving. He suggested me to solve the problem partially since we spent more than 15 minutes on introductions. I solved the problem in brute force way due to the time constraint and he showed positive feedback and reviewed the solution as good but later he rejected me saying I didn't finish the problem. I felt really strange by this feedback.
Points for the interview panel:
1. Interviewer doesn't have any java experience to evaluate a solution written by a java developer. (May be not the right interviewer)
2. There has been serious noise of vacuum cleaning while performing this interview, I could barely hear the interviewer at times. (Interviewer was not prepared).
3. The coderpad platform was not responsive during the middle of the interview, we had to reconnect. (issues with the coding platform)
4. The interviewer spent at least 20 minutes (out of 60 minutes interview) on intros and hardly had any time given to the programming task. (Lack of Time-management)
5. The interviewer has narrowed the scope of the problem in the middle of the interview and always gave the impression I was right. (Misguided the candidate adding to the noise issue mentioned above)
Overall amazing interview experience. Total 6 stages and every stage was properly organised into a pdf file before the interview. To the point and relevant questions were asked. No random trivia or puzzles.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Motive in Aug 2025
Interview
7 rounds of interview spanning over a month, each eliminating and at the end a nondescript rejection mail with no feedback whatsoever. Had to redo the machine coding round cause the api they came with was broken. So essentially 8 rounds and still not even the courtesy to explain the rejection. Apart from the last system design round which was at best average, I aced all the other round. 1 recruiter screening, 3 coding rounds, 1 machine coding, 1 system design, 1 hr manager round. Apparently they like to pretend they are Faang with none of the courtesy or professionalism.
