      Interview

I spoke with a recruiter briefly and then I spoke with the hiring manager. The process was clearcut, with nothing too surprising. Soon after I spoke with the hiring manager, I learned that I was not selected to move forward in the process.

      Interview

Like other reviewers below, I too got trapped in Mozilla interview purgatory. In my case, I spent nearly an entire year (yes, you read that correctly) chasing a role that I’m not even sure actually exists. Here are a few of the highlights of my experience: I first applied and interviewed for a UX position mid-2020. After a round of layoffs, the job and the recruiter were axed. The job reemerged a few months later, so I reapplied and endured several rounds of interviews, waiting weeks and weeks in between rounds. I would interview, wait 2 weeks, reach out to the recruiter for a follow up, receive radio silence, rinse and repeat. None of my interviewers, from the recruiter to the team members, seemed to have any idea what the job entailed. In fact, I didn’t know the job I’d applied to was actually two separate jobs until I spoke to the hiring manager several months into the process. Months later, an internal re-org created chaos and the job is completely reconfigured and reposted, with no communication or follow up with me. After much confusion, I am scheduled for yet another round of interviews. At this point, I knew I wouldn’t have accepted the role if offered, but I was so morbidly curious that I went through with it. Yet again, it’s another series of interviews where no one seems to have a clue as to what’s going on or what they’re hiring for. In my final interview, one teammate tells me repeatedly, “I can’t give you any more information, I’m not even sure why I’m interviewing you”. Then with knowing smirk said, “I hope they get back to you in the timely manner”. Spoiler: they did not. Throughout this wild goose chase I was bounced around to 4 different recruiters. I never knew who to follow up with or who was responsible for scheduling (not that it really matters, as none of them will respond to you anyway). No one seemed to know or care what was going on, and they never once apologized or acknowledged their mistakes. I never did hear back. The TL;DR: Mozilla’s interview process is unprofessional, disorganized, and disrespectful. If this is the way they treat potential candidates I can only imagine the dysfunction of working there.

We're incredibly sorry your experience during your interviewing here was so poor. It’s certainly is not acceptable to us, and we're committed to this never happening. In the past few weeks we've invested deeply into our recruiting team, in part to ensure your experience is an outlier; we’re also planning to evaluate our entire interview process in the upcoming quarter.
