      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at National Express (Birmingham, England) in Mar 2022

      Interview

After you apply by sending your CV off you’ll be invited to a video interview if you’re successful. This is 3 generic questions, there’s a statement before hand about customer service and the questions are pretty much about this. Next is an assessment centre, you’ll be given a question beforehand to create a 5 min presentation. The question I was given was about how to encourage more people to become a bus driver. The assessment centre this year was on teams and there was around 20+ people. They split you into breakout rooms, there’ll be a group activity where they give you a set of 6 questions that’ll consist of facts about national express and how they can improve on this. One example is how can they make their bus fleet and coaches more sustainable etc. you’ll have 20 mins to prepare and I think 15 mins to present? You need to make sure you take a lead and get heard. You’ll then be put into a separate breakout room with an interviewer and a current graduate. This is where they ask you about your experience, why you want the job etc and then you’ll have to present your presentation to them. The process is quite long and all together it lasts up to 6 hours but you are given breaks where you can log off and come back at an allocated time. Finally there is a final interview at the HQ in digbeth, you’ll be interviewed by two people. They ask a lot about commercial awareness, improving creativity of the business, encouraging public transport, sustainability, past experience with projects. It lasts around 45 mins and is quite intense. They aren’t really bothered in letting you know if you’ve been unsuccessful after the interview but you can chase and ask for feedback. I wouldn’t say a good experience but definitely not the worst I’ve had
