      Designer Interview

      7 Mar 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Nava

      Interview

Everyone I met during the process was incredibly kind and smart, and I could tell that the company cares about inclusion. However, I am dissapointed that for a human-centered organization, this doesn't extend to the recruiting process. After that a very grueling round of 2 phone screens and several interviews where I kept getting good feedback, I was essentially ghosted for two months (not even a status update that things were pending) despite literally emailing everyone multiple times.

4-5 interviews. Team was wonderful and inclusive throughout the process. Very bad at communication in a timely manner though. The process took about 3 months on and off of interviews.

      Designer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Nava (New York, NY) in Jan 2020

      Interview

Applied online, had positive video interview screen (30min) followed by positive longer video interview (60min), then a portfolio review interview (60min), then a challenge project which took about 3hours and thought was fair, then another interview to review that. I enjoyed all the video/phone interviews very much and felt like i clicked with the people who were based in DC or outside NYC. In-person, however, felt like an entierly different company. The NYC office is quiet and honestly felt cold or off even among the team. Not much casual banter. After a full day on-site, which included another challenge project, I never heard from them again, which is poor form especially for a company claiming to be human-centered. Reading the reviews this seems to be the norm. I knew we weren't a fit the day I left the on-site but that really sealed the deal as it's incredibly rude to not even send a rejection email after how many hours I gave to the process. The best a company will treat you is likely when they are recruiting, so it speaks volumes how they seem to regularly ghost applicants who made it far in the procesw. Finally, they emphasize diversity which was one of the reasons I applied, and while they ask you a lot of equity questions, they don't seem to walk the walk themselves. Read the other reviews and really think hard if you want to spend a significant amount of time only to be ghosted.
