I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at New York Shipping Exchange (New York, NY) in Aug 2022
Interview
The first interview was an initial discussion to make sure expectations of the role were aligned and to tell a little bit about yourself. The second one was an overall technical interview. The third one was with multiple team members to get a little feel for the team. Then there was a behavioral interview and an interview with the VP of engineering.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at New York Shipping Exchange (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2022
Interview
They send out a packet on what to expect and research about them to "prepare" for in the interview. All of the interviews (4 to be exact) took 3 weeks to schedule, and were all via Zoom. Only one of the people I had interviewed with seemed affable and was asking engaging questions, while the others seemed disinterested or even emotionless and displeased they had to speak with me before the conversation had even begun. After those interviews, I waited just under 2 weeks to get an answer as to what the next steps were. They claimed they were delayed due to "restructuring", only to find out they moved on with someone else. Waste of time, bad communication, and way too thorough/extensive of an interview process.

Question 1
"Why do you want to work with NYSHEX?" and "Did you do your research about what we do as a company"
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at New York Shipping Exchange in Nov 2020
Interview
The interview process was challenging, but thoughtfully done. Each interviewer came prepared with a good set of exercises and questions. Personally, I enjoyed each meeting...they felt more like a conversations and less like interviews. The first was with the hiring manager, in which we worked through a product exercise. I loved it - it was like having a product conversation with a fellow product enthusiast. Plus, I appreciated that he gave me feedback throughout the exercise - a method I have incorporated into my own interview approach.
The interviews with the other team members also went well. I was impressed by the talent level of the team - each person was intelligent, highly driven and an expert their field - while remaining good natured and friendly. I also appreciated the professionalism of the interview process as a whole. Ultimately, I ended up joining the team. The opportunity/work itself is exciting of course...but I joined primarily because of the quality of the team and my experience during the interview process.
