After five rounds of interviews, they let me know that they were going with an internal candidate. In my opinion, they should have to disclose that they have an internal candidate from the beginning. The process is not equitable at all. At the very least, they should open the position to internals FIRST and then, if they can’t find a match, move onto externals. Because it’s obvious that the internal candidate has an edge considering they ALREADY work at the company, so they’re a “cultural fit” and they most likely know the interviewers personally, which makes the process inequitable. Overall, very frustrating experience. When I asked for feedback, I was given the generic “everyone had positive things to say”.
