      Interview

I had two lovely interviews with the lovely person who would have been my supervisor before meeting with the CEO. I have never in my life had a job interview like that one, and I hope I never do again. He started by asking me which parts of the publishing catalog interested me and cut off my answer after a few words to tell me that no one cared about the books I was mentioning, and that the hacker stuff was really where it was at. We spent about 15 minutes with him talking at me aggressively about how if I didn't have experience with hacking, I would suck at the job, and that "none of those kind of guys would take me seriously because you're a little blonde girl" so I better know exactly what I was talking about when it came to the tech stuff. I believe the only questions I was actually asked were about my interest level and experience with hacking- nothing about my actual qualifications for the job. The role was for events and marketing, which I had plenty of experience with, and I think I got about 7 words in edgewise. It was a genuinely horrible, sexist experience and I felt like I needed to take a shower afterward to get it all off me. I had been told that if the meeting with the CEO went well that I would get an offer, and he left the room by saying that "if I did some research and learned anything about the world of hacking, we could continue to talk." I removed myself from the hiring process. I'm leaving this review to add to the existing warnings to not touch this place with a ten foot pole.

Thank you for your review. We appreciated your taking the time to come to our office for an in person interview. We highly value in person interviews as it allows the candidate to see our offices, meet some future work colleagues, and most importantly have the opportunity to ask in depth questions related to the job and company. We in turn have a chance to evaluate the candidate and their fit with our company through the questions they ask, knowledge of the work required, and shared excitement in growing the company. It is unfortunate that your candidacy was not a fit for our company. We, however, wish you the best in your job search.
