I was contacted out of the blue by OMV Petrom's HR department, via email - i was told that they had found my details on the web and was I interested in an opportunity they had for a senior engineer. Although I was presently working, I believe it doesn't harm to have a plan B - and in any case my current contract was up for renewal at the end of the year, with no guarantee of renewal, so I registered an interest. Over the next three or four days I received a number of emails, asking me to supply copies of certificates and testimonials, and answer a number of question. Without any further communication the emails ceased and I heard nothing more for about five weeks. About the time I had forgotten all about OMV Petrom, another email arrived, and suggested that I might like to submit to a Skype interview the following week. We agreed a time and they called and an interview took place. The questions were fairly general in nature, and were focused on management skills, and strategy with a few materials questions thrown in for good measure: a breeze, to be honest - I would suggest the interview went as well as it could have done. As we say - you can only play the team in front of you. They promised to inform me of the outcome the following week. At the end of the following week having heard nothing, I emailed and asked if they had reached a decision. I'm still waiting a reply - five months later. Speaking with two of my colleagues, quite independently of each other - i mentioned my disappointment with a recent interview; I was quite surprised to hear that they both had received similar treatment, earlier in the year - which echoed my own experience.
