I interviewed for a senior leadership role, and the experience was one of the worst I’ve had. The CEO asked me maybe three very basic questions, none of which dug into strategy or leadership. The rest of the 30-minute interview consisted of me asking questions and receiving vague, evasive answers.
Within an hour of the interview ending, HR asked me to create and submit an integrated marketing strategy. Despite my reservations, I put together a thoughtful top-line deck and sent it the next day. Within just a few hours of receiving it, I was rejected. This made it clear they were never seriously considering me (or likely anyone) for the role — they are knowledge farming candidates for free strategy ideas. Do not agree to do projects for them.
Other red flags:
• The “flagship” location on Abbot Kinney in Venice that’s listed online doesn’t exist. It was just a one-day pop-up.
• The Vogue and Vanity Fair mentions are paid ads, not earned press. You won’t find legitimate editorial coverage online — only content generated by their MLM-style consultants.
• Their biggest claim is that their skincare is “waterless,” but their ingredient lists include water…just not the first ingredient like many skincare products. That’s not waterless, it’s less water.
It’s clear they are running some kind of business, but between the misleading marketing, the lack of transparency, and the exploitative interview process, the whole operation feels scammy. Proceed with caution. I read the employee reviews of people who have actually worked here and know I should not have even interviewed or considered employment here in the first place.
