1. Initial phone interview with HR – a general introduction and background discussion.
2. Technical interview with a team member – focused on my experience with Tableau.
3. On-site interview with the team lead – a deeper conversation about my technical skills and approach.
4. Take-home assignment – I was asked to build a dashboard in Tableau based on a given dataset.
5. Final HR interview at Overwolf’s offices – to wrap up the process and discuss next steps.
I completed all the interviews and was supposed to have one final round. Suddenly, during the HR interview, they said the salary we initially agreed on was too high—despite confirming earlier that it wasn’t an issue. I still agreed to hear their offer, but a few days later they called to say they were now looking for someone with a “specific niche,” which HR couldn’t clearly explain.
I read reviews from other candidates and noticed a pattern of similar last-minute rejections. It felt like a waste of time, and I’m not convinced they ever intended to hire. I know I did very well throughout the process.
