I participated in two interviews: an initial HR screen followed by a conversation with the CMO.
The HR screen was brief (approximately 10 minutes). While I understand that early-stage conversations are often high-level, I wasn’t given much opportunity to ask questions about company culture, team structure, or benefits before the call concluded. The recruiter mentioned reconnecting later in the week, which I appreciated, though the overall overview of the role remained somewhat vague.
The second interview with the CMO was a wildly different experience. Unfortunately, I found the discussion misaligned with the role I had applied for. Many of the questions did not seem directly connected to the responsibilities outlined in the job description, and I left the conversation without clear insight into the role’s priorities, goals, or how success would be measured.
Additionally, there was mention of positive feedback from “the team,” despite my not having met with any team members at that point, which created some confusion.
While I was invited to continue in the process, I ultimately chose to withdraw.
I share this feedback in the spirit of transparency for future candidates.
