      Embedded Software Engineer Interview

      16 Apr 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Pivotal in Apr 2023

      Interview

First round was a hiring manager call. Second round was a coding interview - very easy coding questions. Third round was an interview with the head of engineering. This was a weird round because it looks like the Head of Engineering was confused about the skills for this role and I sensed a disconnect between him and the HM. He also seemed distracted during the interview and kept interrupting my answers and going off on a different tangent. This was not the best use of my time.

Thank you for taking the time to post about your interview experience. We are sorry to hear you found your 3rd interview confusing and that you felt interrupted (often with 30 min phone screens our hiring managers set the expectation that they will be interrupting the candidate to cover a variety of questions). We do our best to make sure we are aligned on job descriptions and roles. Additionally, often our engineering leaders focus on different areas and related roles to understand if there is a job fit within the company when a candidate does not excel in the specific job in which they applied. We appreciate your feedback and will ensure our candidates have a clearer understanding of job fit as they move through our interview process.
