I was initially contacted by Popcore's Recruitment team on Linkedin.
The interview process was conducted fully remotely, involving several video calls, one technical test and one technical interview.
Each step of the process was followed by prompt feedback from the Recruitment team (2-3 days top). Every person I met was quite cheerful, respectful and professional, so I decided to follow through.
These were all the steps:
- Call with the Head of Talent Acquisition, following a brief exchange on Linkedin.
- Call with the Technical Director. Not a technical interview, just a friendly discussion about the role, the company and its vision, and of course about my experience, motivation and goals. The opportunity to see if we are indeed a good potential match.
- Technical test - I was given a week to do it. Subject: coding a specific Popcore's game on Unity, focusing on the core gameplay and its overall juiciness (particle effects, animations, satisfying visuals). Popcore estimated that it would take about 2-3 days to complete. It took me 3 days and was a bit trickier than I initially thought. I believe that this test matched well with the expectations for the role that were previously described to me.
- Technical interview with the Head of Engineering.
- Finally, a meeting with the Head of the Studio and one of its founder.
